business concerns. Members receive notification of all
MELA activities; discounts for MELA conferences,
seminars, and other events; listing in the Members
Directory on the website, including a link to your
business website if you purchase a business membership.
Today, MELA reaches out to individuals and organizations around the
region, to large horticultural businesses such as The Care of Trees,
government agencies such as the Chicago Department of the Environment,
and individual landscapers who work out of their trucks. In addition to
our annual MELA G-3 conference, which has become a great source of
networking as well as information, we have begun offering tours
behind the scenes of businesses and horticultural institutions of green
interest.
We are launching three initiatives concerning compost, recycling plant containers, and a list of smart plants, all to benefit midwestern landscapers.
Our
website has had more than 75,000 hits in the last year. Our goal this
year is to reach out to more of the landscaping community and to add
more programs to educate ourselves and our clientele. We are currently
reorganizing the website, adding more specific answers to the
problems you face in your jobs.

Dues Structure
Dues for “Organizations” are $100 per year. That includes the opportunity for your business or institution to have its website linked to the MELA site on the “Membership” page. It also allows an unlimited number of your employees or members to attend MELA functions at discount rates.
Dues for “Individuals” are $40 per year and individual members will be listed on this site. Please note that individual members will NOT have their businesses or e-mail addresses linked on our website.
Dues for “Students” are $30 per year. Remember, your membership entitles you to a discount for each mini-conference or workshop and for each green industry tour. It entitles you to a discount on each activity MELA offers in the year to come, not to mention T-shirts.
Both organizational members and individual members are eligible to become part of the upcoming MELA speaker's bureau.
