Nurseries and Growers

Art and Linda's Wildflowers
Illinois gardeners' source for native wildflowers, spring ephemerals and prairie plants, as well as plants for butterfly gardens and woodland/shade gardens. They also design, install and maintain gardens and landscaping.

The Natural Garden
The Natural Garden, Inc. sells herbaceous perennial plants, both ornamentals and plants native to the Chicago region. They grow approximately 65% on their property by propagation from seed, cutting or division. They buy in the remainder in bare root form, in small pots to pot up and grow, or as finished product to resell.

Possibility Place Nursery
Since 1983, Connor Shaw has been growing only indigenous trees and shrubs on his 55 acre nursery near Monee, Illinois. Ninety percent of the seed used for propagation is collected in Northwestern Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. Possibility Place employs the use of five gallon containers and root bags, among other methods, to stimulate root production, increasing the viability of its plants.

Rich's Foxwillow Pines
Rich's offers a remarkable collection of trees, conifers, and woodies. Rich and Susie Eyre are major supporters of a responsible approach to the environment.

Chalet Nursery and Garden Shop
The Chalet offers education seminars led by Horticultural Information Specialist Jennifer Brennan. Jennifer and a staff of horticulturists present the majority of the lectures, with occasional guest lectures by expert specialists when the subject matter warrants.

Pesche's Flowers, Inc.
A Chicagoland institution since 1923, Pesche's has long been involved in the community, supporting clubs and associations, and sponsoring outreach activities. They also carry a full line of environmentally responsible gardening products, which are listed on their website.

Northwind Perennials
In 1991, Roy Diblik, Colleen Garrigan, and Steve Coster founded Northwind Perennial Farm in southeast Wisconsin, just outside of Lake Geneva on a century-old farm. Now a retail and wholesale business, Northwind is a specialist in providing hardy plants species that withstand this region's Zone 5 winters. The proof? Some twenty thousand plants that they grew for Chicago's Millenium Park.

Intrinsic Perennial Gardens
Intrinsic Perennial Gardens, Inc. is a wholesale container nursery started in 1992. They grow mainly 1 gallon perennials including tender perennials, ferns, grasses, shrubs and vines.
